Description

GS7011 | Forms of Writing (was Collegiate Writing)

The class helps undergraduates improve their writing and composition skills. Students read basic literary texts, surveying a variety of writing styles. Students are given a number of short writing assignments including essays, expository prose, non-fictional writing, creative writing, and the manifesto. Students will conduct research based on primary and secondary sources; learn basic library and archive skills; and practice correct citation and rules of style in the humanities.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
Research and Sourcing. To introduce students to library databases, search engines, electronic resources, library systems and other forms of information search methods in the humanities.
Communication. To instruct students in college-level writing skills and to emphasize the connection between effective writing and effective communication.
