There is an almost perfect symmetry between the need for low-cost, compact, energy-efficient housing, and modern material and production technology. The need for such housing is increasingly relevant as urban populations continue to grow throughout the world, and income inequality forces more and more people into inadequate housing.
The seminar will investigate advanced production methodology, the constraints imposed by building and zoning regulations, and the best ways to accomplish a spectrum of necessary amenities within a compact footprint.
A potential site has been made available for our study, which will incorporate elements of research, implementation, and production technology.
