Description

The course covers contemporary discourse on ?new materialism? from a non-correlationist point of view that focuses on the autonomy and anonymity of the architectural object. This conceptual position will inform the seminar project aimed at exploring techniques for transcoding and manipulating images to create new objects beyond conventional 3D digital modeling and texture mapping. Project work will extend to the creation and manipulation of ?faked? and ?forged? materials for proto-architectural objects. Using the Robot House as an imaging platform, the seminar introduces a new form of physical rendering for rethinking the hierarchy of image and object, geometry and matter in contemporary architectural production.

Note: Students are encouraged to cross register in Peter Testa?s fall vertical studio and applied studies seminar.
