Description
The seminar explores the limits of architecture?s representational and material possibilities linked to the emergence of new digital/physical composites. This two-part course is organized between a theory seminar examining the shifting hierarchy of image, object, and matter in contemporary art and architecture; and a structured visualization project in SCI-Arc?s Robot House focusing on machine vision and the potential for an expanded role of an artificial materiality. The seminar will establish terms and workflows of a post-digital materialism and aesthetics in-achievable through conventional 3D digital modeling and rendering.
