Description

Combining for the first-time volumetric video and robotics, this course explores creative possibilities for experimental montage based on technologies that are transforming the worlds of animation, gaming, cinema, and architectural representation. Volumetric technology offers compelling opportunities for animating and storytelling by capturing objects and digitizing them in the form of 3D models that can be manipulated in post and inserted into an animated 3D environment (Unity, C4D, Maya) or viewed in AR and VR. Using a multi-camera sensing and scanning rig in Robot House, the seminar will dive into how volumetric video influences ideation processes and experimental production strategies. Teams will develop formal narratives, settings and material effects that build a connection between virtuality and reality through a short video of a proto-gaming environment.
