Description

Almost all new architectural executions are created virtually.

Architectural software has historically been a closed-off, with many iterations improving on self-contained rendering pipelines and refined object creation. However, the questions posed by architecture have gone beyond the confines of physical construction, as the field bleeds digitally through computation, AI, AR/VR, the Internet (incl. social media, live-streaming, and blockchain), and ambient intelligence/the smart city. This course seats these digital integrations as primary publication facets for architecture rather than simply an augmentation or externalization.

Using the web as the means for participatory and prototypical reactive design, we’ll explore models of media distribution. Students will utilize knowledge of the history, theory, and practice of digital publication to realize an online form to their practice.
