Description

The seminar addresses contemporary processes of materialization and representational techniques that bridge digital and physical realms with a specific focus on textiles. Structured around lectures, readings and conversations with faculty and guests, this course explores key themes that are coming to define material formations within the circular economy. Lectures include a case study of the groundbreaking textile architecture of Testa & Weiser from the CCA collection. Texts from Gottfried Semper to Sadie Plant; T’ai Smith to Reza Negarestani will contribute to discourse on textile culture. Small teams will investigate and document topics across a range of fields including fashion, sports, medical, art, architecture, interiors, and objects. In parallel with the research component, there will be a playful project using bespoke digital weaving, knitting, and braiding techniques in C4D.
