Short Description: This course examines the history of the physical and biological sciences and their role in reshaping the intellectual cosmology of the world and advancing the exercise of political and economic power by Europe and North America. The physical sciences, and the technologies with which they co-evolved, have been instrumental in creating the modern understanding of the universe around us, yet they have also played an active role in shaping that universe.
