The growth of artificial intelligence (AI) technology holds tremendous potential for both educational transformation and widespread social disruption. In this course we will consider the possible benefits and drawbacks of AI. To organize the semester we will be using Luciano Floridi’s book The Ethics of Artificial Intelligence. A wide range of topics will be covered, including the growing use of AI in architecture, the ethical implications of the technology, and its possible good and bad impact on climate change. There will be an in-class midterm, and the final will be a 10-minute oral exam.
