Description
This semester we will focus on design strategies that can move beyond field and look into
one where figure and ground are blurred, shifting the burden of the object to become
sculptural and unique.
Several techniques we will implement in order to being able to connect the object to the
ground in a manner different to the one where surface accepts the ground as equal,
therefore creating a smooth continuity from horizontal to vertical, instead we will intend
to recognize the diverse variety of building objects and its immediate ground. By
blurring, shifting, stretching, object and ground will be adjoined. The objects will recall
the profile of outlined shapes given by brutalist architecture, but in a way that it does not
refer to a particular historical time in architectures past but rather it makes a direct
emphasis on the form of the parts, simple, rough, delineated.
