Description

This seminar will focus on exploring the limits of materiality and embracing flaws. By
focusing on defects and oddities instead of ideal pristine finishes, we will unravel novel
formal alternatives. The search for ?Imperfections? will drive the class through studies in
models and drawings, by processes of original and copies, we will recognize qualities in
found objects and will develop physical models that will match the ready-mades and at
the same time uncover differences. In order to record ?difference? we will need to
address the original objects as highly recognizable and readily available in popular
culture, therefore we will begin by cataloging a chart of known forms. After addressing
the ?original? we will cast copies into materials that can express a high amount of
details. That material will be Urethane, this class will engage this material in order to
achieve repetitive study models, ending with a final model that will be CNC milled,
vacuum formed and finally cast
