Description

Activities of Exhaustion
Instructor: David Eskenazi

Video Description: www.d-esk.net/activitiesofexhaustion
Short Description: This Visual Studies class will examine tiredness as an aesthetic form of critical engagement with the world. Students will study activities that exist before a total collapse yet after an ideal state. Forms of repetition, depletion, and stagnation will be studied through the production of provisional physical models and digital simulations using CLO. Students will work collaboratively on a series of exercises that play with the particularities of overused architectural forms, worn out materials, and redundant simulations. Weekly lectures and readings will focus on failure, undoing, and precarity with a specific focus on queer, feminist, and BIPOC artists, architects, and writers. This class is the next step in the Queer Query project, following last year's liberal arts courses and public symposium.
