Description

This class will propose the design of a Tiny Town, located in the expansive Mohave desert, specifically the city of Llano, California. We will work in partnership with the non-profit entity titled Tiny Town, which is creating a retreat town for homeless moms and their kids. The challenge for this class will be to envision this community of houses, services, and landscapes in multiple design scenarios, with a focus on the natural environment. In terms of the class output and work process, we will focus on mapping and drawings, by combining traditional botanical representations and more advanced mapping strategies such as LiDAR scan and drone photography, and the main software platform will be Cinema 4D. We will visit the site and will collect visual material to create a manual of the wild. The work developed in this class will be exhibited during the Spring of 2023 as part of Desert X 2023 Biennale in the Coachella Valley (https://desertx.org). We will collaborate with architect Marina
