Description
The seminar will focus on the contingent relationship between contemporary aesthetic generative tools like Stable Diffusion and Midjourney with their armature of physical and digital inputs. Students will utilize Stable Diffusion in combination with the IRB 6700 robot to produce a 3D painted caryatid. Referencing historical precedents of the use of figure in architecture, like the caryatids of ancient Greece, students will generate an initial low resolution mass based on misreadings of the human form by AI. This form will be the initial input for camera streamed images which will feed a recursive loop of AI image descriptions, Stable Diffusion updated images, and robotic painting toolpath generation.
