This seminar will explore the ability of text to 3D AI and text to 2D AI to reconsider the relationship between figural and figurative aesthetics through the design of a proto-architectural element. Students in the seminar will produce a chair generated through a series of aesthetic precedent analysis and AI generative pipelines and utilizing the Robot Annex to 3D print full scale plastic prototypes. Additionally, students will work with AI video generation pipelines to augment photographic documentation of the production to speculate on the role of their furniture pieces in reshaping events within the domestic environment. The class will feature lecture and lab times not exceeding 3 hours per week cumulatively.
