Short Description: At 705 km above us, in a sun-synchronous low earth orbit, the eyes of remote sensing help us to understand the world, its changing conditions and their unexpected impacts. Observing and detecting in light signatures and wavelengths invisible to our human eyes, they reveal what they see to us in otherworldly false colors. From shrinking sea ice to expanding wildfires, long lost civilizations to newly discovered habitats; the images they produce not only show us the direct correlation between the cause and effects of our collapsing environment, they transcend facts and figures and tell us stories of our world that the graphs and charts cannot. In this seminar, we will experiment with remote sensing imaging - the technology that has traditionally been used to map and monitor the current conditions, will be repurposed to imagine and speculate the future consequences of the Anthropocen
