The seminar will use selected parts of the city of Los Angeles as material and the technique of trompe l?oeil as a theme to create a series of mixed reality sets.

Students will learn in a seriers of tutorials about various data capturing techniques, such as motion capture and 3d laser scanning (lidar) to extract, process and translate this information in 3D space. Additionally students will build mid-scale physical models and use the robot house for precise video capture.

This collection of data will be the building material to construct a spatial narrative playing in a new space with an altered timeline constructed from reshuffled, recombined and displaced data, were previously unrelated objects and bodies may be related or visa versa. The final output will be a series of shortfilms and photographs.
