Description

In this seminar, we explore themes including healing technologies, concepts of ritual, anatomy, floatation, mycelium, computation, and microbiology. Each theme forms the premise for physical material development, be it a machine or narrative based object. These physical outcomes are not static, they decay, mold, move, expand, and are in continual motion and change. Students will acquire unique ingredients and fabrication methods in order to construct new aesthetics. Technological elements will be coupled and joined with those that are assumed more natural, ingredients that change mold over time become the skinning for existing found rubbish, such as second-hand remote-control car, a portable tennis ball machine, or other found technological bits.
Each week students will be tasked with further development on their constructed analog pieces be that a new element entirely or a further evolution of what they have already built. Additionally, students are expected to document their work
