Description
With the increasing rate of change in technology, science, and society, strategic foresight and futures-oriented design and research approaches are critical to engaging the ever-entangled problems of tomorrow. This course will investigate the ways in which futures-oriented tools and methods can be used as a practice of critique, speculation, and hypothetical proposition. Students will learn and unpack foresight-based techniques for identifying opportunities and openings in existing complex systems and discovering ways to propose vivid, thought-provoking alternatives to those systems.
