Description
Immersed will explore methods and new opportunities for sculpting and animating, thick brush strokes on fatty, dimpled figures through three different digital mediums; ZBrush, Oculus Medium (VR) and After Effects.
In the first half of the summer, students will develop a series of Immersed figures combining tools and techniques learned in ZBrush and Oculus Medium. In the second half of the semester, students will focus on staging the figures and enhancing their artificial environment through post-production effects and animation. Students will explore new techniques in immersive spherical rendering and VR environments in Adobe After Effects to produce a short animation.
Immersed is a play on ideas of artificial immersive VR environments, mixed with formal and textural responses to the terms the word evokes. For example, to dip, dunk, plunge, sink, saturate and be totally absorbed by something. The work will oscillate between 2D and 3D worlds, the virtual, augmented and real.
