Description
Josef Albers holds up a circle in the air. It is big and smooth, measuring one meter in diameter. The students trace its shape with their fingers as though in a trance. This experiential pedagogy identified formal learning as physical and mental exercise. In our class, students will build disciplining devices—learning aids and teaching props—based on studio lessons to help unpack some recent pedagogies. The class will focus on advancing conceptual thinking, and will be composed of visual presentations, reading discussions, and the production of physical models.
