The seminar titled "The Herbarium Project" focuses on the exploration and documentation of California’s native plants through a hands-on approach. Participants will engage in various activities, including: 1- Pressing California Native Plants and Flowers: Engaging in the art of plant pressing, identifying, and preparing specimens. 2- Visit to the Huntington Gardens: Observing various native species in a rich botanical setting, enhancing ecological understanding. 3- Studying Drawing Techniques for Botanical Representation: Learning to accurately represent plants through drawing with different mediums. Fabrication Tools: Introduction to fabrication techniques including: Vacuum Forming: A- Creating 3D representations of plant shapes. B- Laser Cutting: Making precise cuts for plant models. C- CNC Milling: Crafting intricate designs based on illustrations. D- 3D Printing: Producing tangible models to aid in studying plant morphology.
