Description

Vast
AI doesn't get bored. While the efficiency and sophistication of interfacing with contemporary AI models has been rapidly accelerating, the vast scale of production and consumption embodied by these models is under explored for aesthetic and cultural impacts. Similarly, the use of these tools for physical production is underdeveloped. Students will work in teams to iteratively move back and forth between large scale 3D printing with the large robot arm, machine vision for scanning, digital flatbed printing, and custom diffusion based image/form generation models to produce bas-relief wall panels, at the intersection between form and image. Additionally, students will analyze the history of dataset production, and the inherent biases found in the giant databases the models were trained on. Students will learn how to re-train the models to heighten aesthetic diversity and personal aesthetic agenda's while utilizing these tools to produce ultra-high resolution designs. Students will
