The VS Seminar Chimera will center on the role of AI in architectural representation. It will be taught by two faculty members, Elena Manferdini and Tim Fu.
Manferdini’s VS seminar will explore the role of Utopia and its link to progressive politics, emphasizing the vital yet challenging role of creative architectural visualizations in the age of AI. The current state of contemporary architecture raises a crucial question: Are utopias still necessary? Do they still have both creators and audiences? This seminar seeks to explore and redefine the role of imagination in today's culture through the creation of vibrant, AI-generated chimeras. It asks whether these revived visions could go beyond intuitive expression of novelty or fidelity, becoming instead a rational necessity in contemporary architectural politics.
