Description

Visual Practices will introduce students to the diverse range of professions and practices that are underpinned by the design discipline. From the film and game industries, art and commercial practices, to technology and science sectors, the course will be a survey of multiple fields and an investigation of the role design plays within them. Practitioners and professionals will be invited in to discuss their work and share their insights. Students will conduct research into notable practitioners from these various fields, examine their projects, their modes of operation, core design skillsets, spheres of influence, and their interdisciplinary collaborations and crossovers. The course will also look at how these practices have evolved across history and future projections that situate them in contemporary and emerging design cultures.
