How to apply:

Step One : Complete the online application form, which can be found by clicking here.

Step Two : Determine the method of submitting additional application materials.

Students applying for First Year Placement in the B.Arch program must submit all additional application materials electronically through SlideRoom (https://sciarc.slideroom.com). Students that are currently enrolled in high school or those who have completed or are in the process of completing college level coursework that does not include architectural design studios must apply for first year placement of the B.Arch program either as a transfer or freshman applicant.

Only students who have previously completed or are in the process of completing at least one architectural design studio should apply for Advanced Placement in the B.Arch program. 

Students applying for Advanced Placement in the B.Arch program, M.Arch 1, M.Arch 2, ESTm or SCIFI program must submit all additional application materials in hard copy format to SCI-Arc’s Admissions Office.

All applicants must have each of their recommenders submit the letter of recommendation form (below) along with their letter of recommendation.  Only B.Arch applicants required to submit their application materials through SlideRoom DO NOT need to submit this form.

Wire Transfer Information
Students wishing to submit payment to SCI-Arc via wire transfer should use the attached information.  All wire transfers MUST include the students name in the beneficiary section of the transfer. Students will be notified via email once payment has been successfully received by our Finance Office

Additional Application Materials

-$85 Application Fee (non-refundable): This fee may be paid electronically when you initially submit your online application form. If you decide to pay the application fee later, you can either submit to the admissions office a completed credit authorization form, which can be found here, or you can mail your payment to SCI-Arc’s Admissions Office directly. Checks and money orders should be made payable to “SCI-Arc”. 

-Statement of Purpose: This one page essay should explain your desire to study architecture and why specifically you wish to pursue an architectural education at SCI-Arc. 

-Resume: All applicants are required to submit a resume or curriculum vitae. This document should list all of your professional experience, academic and artistic achievements, and/or published works.

-Letters of Recommendation: Applicants must submit three (3) letters of recommendation which should attest to their academic achievements and/or creative abilities, or professional experience. At least two (2) letters of recommendation should come from past or current instructors. Applicants with extensive work experience may submit letters of recommendations from professional references. Each letter of recommendation must be accompanied by a completed letter of recommendation form (found above). Students applying for the first year of the B.Arch program are not required to submit the letter of recommendation form, but instead must have their recommenders submit their letters of recommendation electronically to SCI-Arc through SlideRoom.

-Academic Transcripts: Official transcripts from all previous schools attended are required, regardless of credits received or courses completed. These records should include coursework through the most recent term completed at each school. Applicants in the process of completing their degree will be required to submit a final official transcript that indicates the degree completed and the date it was received. Official transcripts should arrive in a sealed envelope directly from each school. Students who have acquired less than 60 credit hours/units at the time they submit their application, must also submit an official high school transcript that show they have received their high school diploma. Transcripts from schools located internationally must have their transcripts officially translated into English and evaluated.

-Portfolio: All applicants are required to submit a portfolio of creative work. Portfolios should consist of a minimum of 12-15 pieces of creative work. Individuals who have no formal architectural education or experience should include work that demonstrates his/her visual design sensibilities, sense of form and space, experience with different materials or media, craftsmanship, and imagination. This work may include but is not limited to: drawings, sketches, photography, painting, sculpture, ceramics, or wood and metal work. Applicants with a background in architecture are expected to present appropriately documented architectural projects in place of or in addition to other creative work.

Applicants applying for First Year Placement in the B.Arch program will submit their portfolio electronically through SlideRoom. Only printed and bound portfolios will be accepted for the B.Arch Advanced Placement, M.Arch 1, M.Arch 2, ESTm and SCIFI programs. Printed portfolios larger than 10x13 inches and smaller than 5x7 inches will NOT be accepted. Please do not submit originals-your portfolio should contain scanned images or photographs of the original work. Your name and the program in which you are applying must appear clearly on the front of the portfolio.  Portfolios of students who are accepted and enroll at SCI-Arc will be kept and become property of SCI-Arc’s Admissions Office.   

-SAT I or ACT Test: Undergraduate applicants that have completed less than twenty-four (24) college level credit hours/units are required to submit official test results from either the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT I) or the American College Test (ACT). All test scores should be received no later than the appropriate application deadline. For more information about these exams, please visit www.collegeboard.com or www.act.org. SCI-Arc’s SAT School Code is 1575; SCI-Arc’s ACT School Code is 0423. 

-GRE Test: Applicants to the M.Arch 1 and M.Arch 2 programs are to submit official test scores from the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) General Test.  All test scores should be received no later than the appropriate application deadline. For more information on the GRE, please visit www.ets.org/gre. SCI-Arc’s GRE School Code is 2781.

-TOEFL/IELTS Test: All international students applying from non-English speaking countries are required to submit official test scores from either the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). The minimum score requirement is a ninety (90) for the internet based TOEFL, a five hundred and eighty three (583) for the paper based TOEFL, or a six point five (6.5) band score for the IELTS. All test scores should be received no later than the appropriate application deadline. Students who have completed a minimum of two years of formal instruction at an institution where English is the primary language of instruction may be eligible to waive this requirement. Please contact the Admissions Office for detailed information regarding this process. For more information on the TOEFL and IELTS, please visit www.toefl.org or www.ielts.org. SCI-Arc’s TOEFL School Code is 7802.
