  • Cal Grant GPA Requirement

Filing for the March 2, 2025, Cal Grant Award Deadline

To be considered for a Cal Grant award, you must complete both of these requirements: First, a 2025-2026 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be completed with the Federal processor at www.fafsa.ed.gov must be completed at http://www.csac.ca.gov/dream_act.asp by the March 2nd deadline. Second, you must ensure that a certified Grade Point Average (GPA) is submitted to the California Student Aid Commission (Commission) by March 2nd.

Cal Grant GPAs will be accepted only if certified by a school electronically or on the paper GPA Verification form. No transcripts are accepted. The fastest and most secure way for a student to submit a Cal Grant GPA is to have their school electronically upload the GPA directly to the Commission’s system. Please ask your school to submit your GPA electronically to the Commission by the March 2nd* filing deadline.

Please allow approximately 6-8 weeks for a paper GPA verification form to be processed.

By choosing the first option, Cal Grant B recipients are responsible to resolve any account balances with their institution. Please see your financial aid office for more information.”
Filing for the March 2, 2025, Cal Grant Award Deadline

The California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) awards Cal Grants to eligible California students. A grant is money that you don't need to pay back.

You apply for all Cal Grants – there are multiple types -- when you complete your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act application and have your high school provide a verified grade point average (GPA) to CSAC.

Selection is based on financial need, academic performance, and other factors. You must apply for a Cal Grant by the March 2 deadline by filing your FAFSA or Dream Act application and ensuring your school submits your verified GPA.
