 Once you have received your Award Letter and you have decided that you would like to apply for the loans, you can visit https://studentloans.gov/myDirectLoan/index.action and complete the following: 
 
1. Sign in with your FSA ID and password
 

PLUS Counseling can be completed at any time to help PLUS borrowers:

  • Understand the costs and obligations that come with borrowing a PLUS Loan and
  • Make careful decisions about taking on student loan debt.
PLUS Counseling is required when the U.S. Department of Education has informed you that you must complete PLUS Counseling.
 

Required before you receive the first disbursement of your SubsidizedA federal student loan for which a borrower is not generally responsible for paying the interest while in an in-school, grace*, or deferment period. Includes Direct Subsidized Loans (made through the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program) and Subsidized Federal Stafford Loans (made through the Federal Family Education  Loan (FFEL) Program**.)  <br /><br /> * Interest will be charged during your grace period, if your loan is first disbursed July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2014.<br /><br /> ** The FFEL Program ended June 30, 2010 and no new loans have been made under the FFEL Program since that date. or UnsubsidizedA federal student loan for which the borrower is fully responsible for paying the interest regardless of the loan status. The Master Promissory Note (MPN) is a legal document in which you promise to repay your loan(s) and any accrued interest and fees to the U.S. Department of Education. It also explains the terms and conditions of your loan(s); for instance, it will include information on how interest is calculated and what deferment and cancellation provisions are available to you. Please note we are listed under "THE" Southern California Institute of Architecture

4. Complete PLUS Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN) (UG - Dependent or Graduate Professional Students)

Required before you receive the first disbursement of your Direct UnsubsidizedA federal student loan for which the borrower is fully responsible for paying the interest regardless of the loan status.   Includes Direct Unsubsidized Loans (made through the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program) and Unsubsidized Federal Stafford Loans (made through the Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) Program*.) <br /><br />* The FFEL Program ended June 30, 2010 and no new loans have been made under the FFEL Program since that date. Loan or Direct PLUS LoanDirect PLUS Loans and FFEL PLUS Loans are loans to eligible graduate or professional students and eligible parents of dependent undergraduate students to help pay for the cost of the student's education at participating schools.*<p>Includes Direct PLUS Loans (made through the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program) and FFEL PLUS Loans (made through the Federal Family Educational Loan Program.**)</p><p>Students' loan information doesn't include PLUS loans taken out by parents on their behalf.</p><p>*Graduate or professional students should exhaust unsubsidized and subsidized loans before taking out Direct PLUS Loans.</p><p>**The FFEL Program ended June 30, 2010 and no new loans have been made under the FFEL Program since that date.</p>.

5. Apply for a PLUS Loan

This is a request for information in connection with your application for a Federal Direct PLUS Loan.

The information that you provide will be sent to the school that you choose, and will be used by the school to process your application for a Direct PLUS Loan.
